Today, the Saami communities of Jåhkågaska and Sirges in Northern Sweden delivered an open letter to Beowulf Mining’s management in London declaring their protest over the company’s planned exploration and mining activities in traditional Saami reindeer herding areas. The communities have stated they will not co-operate with the company or participate in the Environmental Impact Assessment process. The news comes ill-timed for Beowulf who have an extra general meeting in London this week, on Friday 13 January.
